1950: formed as Elektra Records
1989: renamed as Elektra Entertainment (this label)
1994–2004: renamed again as Elektra Entertainment Group
2004-02: merger with Atlantic Records (40/60 share) to form Atlantic Records Group; Elektra becomes a dormant subsidiary until 2009
2009-06-01: Atlantic Records Group formally revives Elektra Records as an independent entity under Warner Music.
Previously known as: Elektra Records (not for release label use! please use its imprint “Elektra” instead), Elektra/Asylum Records (not for release label use! copyrights holder, distributor within the US)
Renamed to: Elektra Entertainment Group (not for release label use! a division of Warner Communications, Inc. for the United States, and WEA International Inc. for the world outside the United States)
