"Of all the excellent guitarists to debut on Kicking Mule Records during the Seventies and early Eighties, none was more influential, exciting, or accomplished than slide wiz Bob Brozman. Though quite young, he was already an experienced and mature musician and entertainer when he made this record in 1981, two years before Dire Straits' Brothers In Arms LP brought National Resophonic Guitars into mainstream popularity. On Blue Hula Stomp, as on his many subsequent releases, Brozman was able to combine down-home soul with an encyclopedic knowledge of roots music."

NOTE - Track 12 is incorrectly listed on the disc label and liner notes as "Hilo Hula". Based on the melodic and lyrical content, it is actually "Hilo Hanakahi", written by Keola Naumu.
